Minecraft vs. My Four-Year-Old
My youngest wants to be like her oldest, except without the benefit of a very crucial additional four years of knowing how video games work.
Recently, my four-year-old decided they’re into Minecraft.
The problem, unfortunately, is that Minecraft is a fiddly game, requiring precise navigation of a complex series of wildly unintuitive interfaces and full understanding of a dual stick controller. It turns out my four-year-old was not prepared for either one!
This has led to, uh, some interesting play sessions with her eight-year-old sister, and insights into how my youngest interprets how you’re meant to operate a controller.
